Despite a liquidity crisis in the banking sector, six of the nine fourth-generation banks report excess liquidity, with NRBC Bank leading at Tk 2,450 crore. As of August, NRBC Bank’s total deposits reached Tk 17,116 crore, while loans disbursed amounted to Tk 14,160 crore, resulting in an advanced deposit ratio (ADR) of 82.73%, below the required level. Midland Bank follows with Tk 950 crore in excess liquidity, holding deposits of Tk 6,000 crore and loans of Tk 5,500 crore, leading to an ADR of 85%. Meghna Bank also shows strong liquidity with Tk 850 crore in excess, while NRB Bank reports Tk 200 crore surplus liquidity. Modhumoti Bank has Tk 830 crore excess liquidity, with deposits totaling Tk 7,800 crore and loans of Tk 6,500 crore, resulting in an ADR of 83.33%. South Bangla Agriculture and Commerce Bank (SBAC) has Tk 500 crore in excess liquidity from Tk 10,200 crore in deposits and Tk 8,500 crore in loans, maintaining an ADR of 84%. Customers across these banks report satisfaction with services and the ability to withdraw funds without issues.
