The Energy Ministry of Bangladesh has proposed seven projects totaling $1 billion for potential Chinese funding ahead of PM Sheikh Hasina’s visit to Beijing from July 8-11. Six projects focus on power transmission, including underground facilities, while one aims at a parallel gas transmission project from two future FSRUs in Moheshkhali. The government plans to ensure uninterrupted gas supply by 2027, with demand expected to rise to 6,000 mmcfd. Two additional FSRUs and extensive gas exploration are planned, requiring up to $3 billion. Electricity prices may also rise due to currency fluctuations, with further adjustments possible this year.
