Small entrepreneurs play a significant role in keeping the economy active, with the highest loan repayment rates among micro-loan recipients. The micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises hold 22% of loans, totaling BDT 203,930 crore. Middle-income earners, who take loans of up to BDT 1 crore for homes and cars, account for 5.63% of loans, amounting to BDT 89,844 crore. There are 152,590 borrowers with loans exceeding BDT 1 crore, holding 77.80% of the total distributed loans, valued at BDT 12,426,820 crore. Low-income individuals, typically borrowing less than BDT 1 lakh, constitute 1.75% of loan recipients, with total loans of BDT 32,736 crore. Micro-entrepreneurs, borrowing between BDT 1 lakh to 5 lakh, account for 4.58% of loans, totaling BDT 73,268 crore. As of June, there are 158.4 million depositors with BDT 18,380,803 crore in deposits, while loans distributed amounted to BDT 15,971,101 crore for 12.6 million borrowers. Notably, 78% of loans are held by wealthy borrowers, with 3,806 individuals commanding 27.69% of total loans, amounting to BDT 442,184 crore.
