The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a legal action against six government officials and Md Imran Hossain, the owner of Sadeeq Agro, for corruption and violations regarding the sale and import of cattle of the Brahman breed, which are banned in Bangladesh. There they have 2 parties who have committed violations.Â
Allegations against Sadeeq Agro: 18 Brahman cattle are purportedly brought by Hossain from the US in 2021 without the required paperwork and a letter of credit. He broke protocol when he tried to release the livestock from customs, which resulted in their seizure. Even though they were in government custody, nine of the seized cows were later sold for large sums of money (about Tk 10 million each). With the help of DLS personnel, fifteen more Brahman cattle were removed from a government-owned breeding farm and put on show at an event.
