The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will support Bangladesh with low-cost river cleaning projects, focusing on the Buriganga, Turag, and Balu rivers. The aid also includes implementing Bangladesh’s climate action plans, such as the National Adaptation Plan (NAP).
This commitment was confirmed in a recent meeting between Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor on Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, and Edimon Ginting, ADB’s Country Director. Hasan emphasized the need for private sector and youth involvement and requested ADB’s help in setting up a training institute for Department of Environment officials.
ADB plans to use AI technology for river cleaning and will continue collaborating on environmental and climate resilience initiatives. Ginting also invited Hasan to speak at the Climate Adaptation Investment Planning Forum (CAIP2024) in Manila.
