Amazon is seeking central bonded warehouse facilities in Bangladesh to capitalize on tax benefits and enhance its retailing operations for domestic and international markets, as the State Minister for Commerce reported. This move aligns with Amazon’s strategy to expand its business through the procurement of goods for its global supply chain.
If Amazon increases its business activities in Bangladesh, it would ordinarily be subject to taxes and duties. The central bonded warehouse facility, however, would offer Amazon reduced tax rates, making it an attractive option for the e-commerce giant.
The state minister discussed this development at a press conference following a meeting with a visiting delegation from the US-Bangladesh Business Council. The delegation included senior representatives from several prominent companies, including Meta, Chevron, Coca-Cola, Boeing, and others, highlighting the broad interest of major US corporations in expanding their presence and operations in Bangladesh.
