Bangladesh and Qatar are set to sign 11 cooperation documents during Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s visit to Bangladesh. The agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) cover areas such as trade, investment, manpower export, and avoidance of double taxation. Among the agreements is one on prisoner exchange. The visit aims to elevate bilateral relations to new heights. Discussions will also focus on global issues, particularly the Palestine-Israel conflict. This visit marks the first high-level visit from the Middle East since Bangladesh’s new government was formed. The two-day visit includes a reception by the President, meetings with the Prime Minister, and agreements to strengthen cooperation between the two countries. Bangladesh and Qatar aim to expand cooperation in areas such as manpower, energy, trade, and investment.
