Md Zakir Hossain Chowdhury and Md Kabir Ahmed, both executive directors of the Bangladesh Bank, have been appointed as deputy governors for a three-year term. The finance ministry announced their appointments on a contractual basis, filling vacancies left after the previous deputy governors stepped down following the ousting of the Awami League government on August 5. With these appointments, the central bank now has four deputy governors. The selection process was overseen by a search committee led by Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury, former finance secretary and comptroller and auditor general.
