Several Bangladeshi firms have partnered with Starlink to facilitate the setup of ground earth stations in the country, signing contracts with the US-based telecommunications provider. The collaboration involves space allocation, construction support, and infrastructure maintenance. Some firms offer their properties, while others consider Hi-Tech Park locations. Discussions on site selection and implementation are ongoing. Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, stated that Starlink’s high-speed internet could benefit cities, remote regions, and coastal areas, overcoming challenges like load shedding and limited telecom fibre coverage. The government aims to finalize an implementation model within 90 days. Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus invited Elon Musk to visit Bangladesh and oversee the Starlink launch, assigning High Representative Khalilur Rahman to coordinate with SpaceX for completion within the timeframe.
