The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) ordered all banks to freeze the accounts of Salman F Rahman, former adviser to ex-prime minister Sheikh Hasina, along with those of his family members. The freeze, effective for 30 days, halts all transactions in these accounts. BFIU also requested status updates within five working days. Rahman, arrested on August 13, and his son Ahmed Shayan Fazlur Rahman, recently removed from his director position at IFIC Bank due to loan defaults, are under investigation. Rahman remains the chairman of IFIC Bank.
