The Bangladesh Bank has instructed lenders to submit detailed loan and liability information on Thermax Group . The group, comprising over a dozen companies in garments and textiles, reportedly owes more than Tk 6,000 crore to various banks, including Tk 4,789 crore to state-run banks like Sonali, Agrani, Janata, and Rupali. Industry insiders claim Thermax Group has been irregular in loan repayments, frequently utilizing rescheduling policies to manage its debts. Abdul Kadir Molla, the group’s chairman, is also a former director of South Bangla Agriculture and Commerce Bank. Janata Bank confirmed submitting the requested data to the central bank.
