The Bangladesh Bank has announced that customers must open a separate account to use the “Binimoy” platform, which facilitates transactions among banks, mobile banking services (MFS), and Payment Service Providers (PSP). The platform requires e-KYC during account opening, and once registered, it is accessible via MFS apps, internet banking, and bank accounts.
Binimoy enables seamless money transfers between accounts without needing cash withdrawals and supports payments for insurance premiums, EMIs, utility bills, government dues, social safety nets, salaries, and e-commerce. Transaction fees include Tk5 per Tk1,000 for MFS-to-MFS transfers, Tk10 per Tk1,000 for mobile banking to bank accounts, and Tk5 per Tk1,000 for mobile banking to PSP e-wallets. Additionally, receiving institutions pay Tk0.5 to the Bangladesh Bank per transaction.
