Bangladesh is eyeing a substantial share of the $36 billion global cut flower market, with its flourishing flower cultivation. The country’s Agriculture Minister, speaking at the inauguration of a modern wholesale flower market and processing center in the capital, expressed confidence in capturing a market share worth at least $500 million. The Agriculture Minister emphasized the need for innovation in flower varieties and cultivation techniques to support the country’s economic growth through flower exports. The local cut flower market is valued at Tk1,500 crore, with 15 lakh people employed in the sector. The new wholesale market and processing center are expected to boost flower exports and enhance the overall agricultural marketing landscape.
