BD Moves Up Three Spots in SDGs Index 2023

Industry: SDG

Bangladesh has climbed three spots in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Index 2023, ranking 101st among 166 countries. The country’s progress is ahead of India (112th) and Pakistan (128th) in South Asia, according to the Sustainable Development Report 2023 prepared by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network. Bangladesh is on track or maintaining SDGs achievement for quality education and responsible consumption and production.

It is moderately advancing in six goals, including no poverty, zero hunger, good health and well-being, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, and industry, innovation, and infrastructure. However, challenges remain in five goals, including gender equality, decent work, and economic growth, sustainable cities and communities, climate action, and partnerships for the goals. Bangladesh lags in achieving life below water, life on land, peace, justice, and strong institutional targets. The scarcity of available data is noted for the reduced inequalities target.
