BD Ranks Second Globally in Freshwater Fish Production

Bangladesh has made significant progress in fish and meat production, securing a comfortable position in ensuring food security. Bangladesh also ranks 8th in crustacean production and 14th in coastal and marine fish production. Livestock production has risen by 24% over the last decade, with a steady growth in animals. Despite challenges in achieving self-sufficiency in milk production, the government’s farm-friendly policies have played a crucial role in boosting fish and poultry production, ensuring accessibility and reducing dependency on food imports.
