Bangladesh is set to sign a long-term LNG import contract with Oman Trading International (OTI) to secure its future energy security. The deal would be Petrobangla’s second with OQ and will be discussed with the ambassador of Oman in Bangladesh and the state minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources. OQ has been offering lower rates compared to Qatargas, which is another long-term LNG supplier to Bangladesh. Bangladesh will need to import around 30 million tonnes of LNG per year by 2041 to meet the country’s demand from various sectors as domestic gas reserves are depleting.
