The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has set a revenue target of Tk 6,705 crore for Benapole Customs House for the fiscal year 2024-25. In the previous fiscal year, Benapole Customs exceeded its target by Tk 216 crore, achieving a revenue of Tk 6,164.59 crore against a target of Tk 5,948 crore. This was despite importing 1,721,780 tons of goods. Benapole Customs aims to continue this trend, with the NBR setting monthly revenue targets based on imports from India. In recent years, the volume of imports has fluctuated, with 1,445,000 tons in 2022-23, 2,114,000 tons in 2021-22, and 2,644,000 tons in 2020-21. Despite global economic challenges and rising dollar prices, Benapole Customs is optimistic about meeting its revenue target if trade remains strong. Benapole is a crucial entry point for imports, significantly contributing to the national revenue.
