Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd has reported a 9.48% year-on-year decline in net profit, reaching Tk452.45 crore in the fiscal year 2022-23. The drop in earnings per share (EPS) is attributed to the absence of non-recurring pre-tax income of Tk619 million from a Vaccine Distribution Fee agreement that was active between July 2021 and June 2022 but concluded thereafter.
Additionally, rising costs from the depreciation of the taka against the dollar and high inflation have also impacted the EPS. The company has recommended a 35% cash dividend for shareholders for FY23 and scheduled its annual general meeting for 28 December. In FY23, the earnings per share stood at Tk10.34, compared to Tk11.48 in the previous fiscal year. The company’s profit after tax was Tk458.80 crore, and the earnings per share stood at Tk10.28. In FY23, the earnings per share on a solo basis was Tk10.28, down from Tk11.57 in the previous fiscal year. The company’s net asset value per share was Tk97.15 at the end of June 2023.
