Biman Bangladesh Airlines Expands Network with Codeshare Agreements Biman Bangladesh Airlines has announced upcoming codesharing and interline agreements with Gulf Air and Japan Airlines, respectively. These partnerships will strengthen Biman’s international network and increase passenger capacity. Gulf Air’s CEO is expected to visit Bangladesh in June to finalize the codeshare agreement. Under the agreements, passengers will be able to access more European destinations through Gulf Air, while Biman passengers can travel to the US via Narita International Airport in Tokyo using Japan Airlines. The codeshare agreements will facilitate indirect fleet expansion for Biman and enable both airlines to share profits on the designated routes. Biman plans to launch direct flights on the Dhaka-Narita route in September and the Dhaka-Chennai route in November, subject to fleet availability. The airline is actively seeking new aircraft to meet the growing demand for its services.

Container Movement Resumes at Chattogram Port

In 24 hours, 1,286 TEUs of import cargo were delivered, 583 TEUs transferred to export zones, and 1,007 TEUs to private ICDs. Total containers in port yards dropped to 41,459 TEUs from 41,620 TEUs.

Traffic congestion on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway and within the port city caused delays for vehicles carrying goods. Normally, around 6,000 vehicles enter Chattogram Port daily, but this number has reduced to about 5,000.
