Biman Bangladesh is addressing allegations of pilferage and harassment at Dhaka airport by introducing body-worn cameras for its ground staff. Biman’s Managing Director and CEO shared plans to procure 3,600 equipment worth Tk 1,000 crore for enhanced ground handling services at the new third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

The body cameras aim to record every activity of the ground staff, ensuring transparency and preventing manipulation. In the first phase, 105 cameras will be purchased from Japan. The move comes amid widespread allegations of valuables being damaged or stolen from passengers’ luggage. Biman aims to instill confidence in passengers and provide uninterrupted, high-quality ground handling services for 200 to 240 daily flights by 2024.
