BRAC Empowers 4,500 People in Retail Employment

Over 4,500 individuals, including those with disabilities, have secured employment in retail sales at renowned companies in Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna, and Sylhet after completing a two-month training program conducted by BRAC. Companies such as Bata, Apex, Shwapno, Meena Bazar, and Artisan have offered job opportunities to these candidates.

BRAC celebrated this achievement with an event titled ‘Successful Careers in the Retail Sector for Youth.’ The training-employment initiative involved over 150 private sector partners, contributing to the retail sector’s growth, which employs more than 6 million people and is recognized as a promising sector in Bangladesh’s economy. The project received funding from the IKEA Foundation and UBS Optimus Foundation and marks the first government-recognized retail sales training module in Bangladesh.
