Australia and Canada have contributed Tk10 crore to flood response and rehabilitation in Bangladesh through a Strategic Partnership Arrangement (SPA) with BRAC. Australia provided Tk7 crore, and Canada contributed Tk3.10 crore. The funds will assist 11,000 households in flood-affected areas.

BRAC will use this funding for cash assistance, repairing water and sanitation facilities, emergency health services, livelihood restoration, agriculture support, and cattle feed. BRAC has already allocated Tk5 crore from its own resources for immediate relief. The SPA funding will support ongoing efforts until June 2025, addressing both immediate and long-term needs. BRAC has reached approximately 50,000 families with emergency aid and deployed 5,000 staff to assist in remote areas.

Dr. Mohammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the Interim Government, stressed the importance of international cooperation and NGO expertise in flood relief. This partnership underscores the value of global collaboration and BRAC’s commitment to supporting flood-affected communities.
