Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) is seeking a partnership with Starlink to launch satellite internet services in Bangladesh. BSCL has proposed hosting Starlink’s gateway at its Gazipur and Betbunia stations, leveraging its infrastructure, including secure facilities and 99.99% uptime. This collaboration aims to expedite Starlink’s entry within 90 days from February 2025, supported by regulatory approvals from the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC). BSCL has already signed a non-disclosure agreement with SpaceX and successfully tested Starlink terminals in various locations. The partnership will enhance satellite internet connectivity, particularly for underserved areas. BSCL will provide sales, marketing, post-sales support, and distribution services. A telecom expert emphasized that BSCL’s technical expertise and infrastructure would ensure seamless service rollout. The BTRC is finalizing guidelines to allow foreign companies like Starlink to operate in Bangladesh, and a rebate on fees may be granted for partnerships with local operators.
