Company Intelligence Tag: Business Insights

The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has imposed a Tk1 lakh fine on the director of Emerald Oil, nominated by Minori Bangladesh Limited, for violating beneficiary trading prohibition rules in 2022. The fine was levied in December 2023, following an investigative report by the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Sikder’s share trading activities in Emerald Oil between April 27 and May 28, 2023.

Despite a 108% surge in Emerald Oil shares during this period, Sikder traded 24,480 shares during the prohibited period. The BSEC’s enforcement reflects a commitment to maintaining market integrity, with Sikder attributing the violation to a lack of compliance knowledge in share trading during a hearing.
