The stock market regulator has directed top officials of Confidence Cement to appear next Sunday due to the company’s failure to pay dividends on time. In September, the cement producer announced a 10% dividend for the 2023-24 fiscal year, and the annual general meeting (AGM) was held the following month. However, the Dhaka Stock Exchange placed the company in the Z category for not disbursing the dividend within 30 days of the AGM. Md Delowar Hossain, the company secretary, explained that while Confidence Cement had consistently paid dividends on time for 32 years, business challenges delayed this year’s payment, which was completed Wednesday.
