The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has requested a five-year extension for the Tk 200 crore fund, which banks can borrow from Bangladesh Bank to invest in the stock market. Additionally, BSEC seeks to increase the loan amount to Tk 300 crore. This fund, introduced in 2020, aims to boost stock market liquidity. BSEC Chairman Khondoker Rashed Maqsood made the request in a meeting with BB Governor Ahsan H Mansur, as the current loan tenure ends in February 2026. BSEC also called for measures to encourage the listing of quality companies and for mandatory listings for companies seeking large-term loans.
