BTRC officials called for restoring the commission’s independence per the 2001 Telecommunication Regulation Act during a meeting with the interim telecom adviser. The Bangladesh Mobile Phone Users Association also pushed for reforms, including public hearings on tariffs, lower service costs by cutting intermediaries, better telecom tower standards, and recognizing internet access as a fundamental right. Both groups stressed the need for transparent appointments and stronger regulatory authority to enhance accountability and protect consumers.
