Teletalk faces significant challenges with customer service and network coverage, leading to a high rate of unresolved complaints. From March 2023 to February 2024, only 25.2% of complaints logged through the BTRC’s call center were resolved, contrasting sharply with private operators’ resolution rates exceeding 98%. Teletalk’s issues include inadequate network coverage due to a shortage of base transceiver stations (BTS), contributing to customer dissatisfaction and its loss of 2.3 lakh subscribers in 2023. Despite government investment, Teletalk’s financial losses persist, totaling Tk 1,337 crore in the last fiscal year, except for sporadic profitable years. State officials have urged profitability by mid-2024, underscoring the urgent need for improvement in operational efficiency and service quality at Teletalk.
