The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has revoked the licenses of four Internet Protocol Telephony Service Providers (IPTSPs) due to their loss of Internet Service Provider (ISP) licenses. The affected companies are IDEA Networks and Communications Ltd., Digital Connectivity Ltd., Pritty International (Pvt.) Limited, and Sadiatec Limited. According to BTRC regulations, IPTSPs are required to hold an ISP license to provide their services.
IPTSPs typically offer both domestic and international voice call services using IP-based Internet or managed IP networks. The BTRC has instructed these revoked licensees to return their licenses to the commission within 10 days, deeming all their activities illegal and subject to punishment under the Bangladesh Telecommunication Act of 2001.
Additionally, the BTRC has cautioned against engaging in any agreements or financial transactions with these IPTSPs, highlighting the seriousness of their license revocations.
