The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has unveiled a ten-year roadmap for wireless spectrum management and allocation. The draft roadmap, presented during a commission meeting, aims to generate significant revenue of around 100 lakh crore taka through the allocation of wireless waves over the next decade. BTRC has also finalized a proposal to allocate the 6 GHz band radio waves to Bangladesh’s telecommunications sector at the upcoming World Wireless Communication Conference in Dubai. This initiative is seen as a crucial step for BTRC to keep pace with future global information technology advancements.
The roadmap takes into account the current spectrum availability, including 433 MHz of unused airwaves, along with plans for reallocations and renewals in various frequency bands. If implemented, BTRC expects to generate revenue of 11 thousand 136.16 million dollars over the next ten years. Bangladesh is also addressing the demand for radio waves, aiming to secure an additional 1,185 MHz to support 5G and higher technologies. This proposal will be presented at the World Wireless Communication Conference.
