The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has directed Teletalk Bangladesh and Bangladesh Telecommunication Company Limited (BTCL) to settle their combined dues of approximately Tk 3,000 crore ($352 million) promptly.
Teletalk Bangladesh owes Tk 1,848.63 crore to the BTRC for license fees, revenue sharing, spectrum fees, and contributions to the social obligation fund. Meanwhile, BTCL owes over Tk 1,100 crore to the regulator, covering revenue shares and various other fees.
In a meeting with top officials from both companies, the BTRC emphasized the urgency of settling these dues, highlighting that it is government revenue. The regulator also plans to conduct an information system audit on Teletalk and BTCL to identify and address any operational inefficiencies.
