Cardamom prices in Bangladesh have fallen to Tk3,300-3,800 per kg from Tk4,000 due to oversupply and reduced demand. Market instability, exacerbated by cash-only transactions and traders absconding with Tk75 crore, has led to a decline in trust and halted cashless trading. Despite lower demand, cardamom sales continue. Bangladesh imports most of its cardamom from Guatemala, with varying annual volumes. Meanwhile, increased Chinese and Pakistani onions have reduced Indian onion sales, and ginger and garlic prices have slightly dropped due to decreased trading activity.
