Livestock production can increase by approximately Tk 12,300 crore with the use of cement sheet sheds, which help boost egg, meat, and milk production while reducing costs. Egg production could rise by 11 percent, meat by 7 percent, and milk by 4 percent. This reduction in production costs will benefit marginal farms by enabling profits and allowing consumers to purchase eggs, milk, and meat at lower prices. Currently, five factories have invested Tk 1,000 crore in the cement sheet sector, producing 3.65 lakh tonnes annually. The use of cement sheets has increased overall livestock and poultry production by about 9 percent and decreased mortality rates by around 10 percent by protecting animals from diseases. This information was shared during a discussion on “Green construction and how cement sheet is transforming Bangladesh’s agricultural economy,” organized by the Economic Reporters Forum (ERF) and the Bangladesh Cement Sheet Manufacturing Association (BCSMA).
