The price of broiler chicken meat and eggs in the Dhaka market has recently increased due to rising production costs and heightened demand for winter events. The price of broiler chicken has risen by Tk 10 to Tk 20 per kg, reaching Tk 190 to Tk 200 per kg, while the price of ‘Sonali’ chicken has also increased.
Brown eggs are being sold at Tk 130 to Tk 135 per dozen, and white eggs at Tk 125 to Tk 130 per dozen. The wholesale price of 100 brown eggs is between Tk 1,000 to Tk 1,000, and 100 white eggs are priced at Tk 990 to Tk 1,000. The market is experiencing a rise in egg prices due to increased demand and the impact of winter on chicken diseases.
Farmers have faced low prices for their products, leading to reduced production and market uncertainty. The Bangladesh Poultry Association has expressed concerns about the abnormal market behavior and the need for fair pricing initiatives.
