China is poised to make substantial investments in Bangladesh’s healthcare sector, with plans already underway for a hospital investment and discussions regarding joint venture hospitals in every district. The Chinese ambassador recently met with Health Minister to advance these initiatives. China’s proposal includes building 50,000-bed hospitals across 64 districts, addressing a significant need for quality healthcare in Bangladesh.
The proposed hospitals aim to rival international standards, offering services comparable to renowned facilities like Mount Elizabeth in Singapore. Additionally, plans are in place for specialized units, such as a burn and plastic surgery unit in Chittagong Medical College Hospital, funded by China. Despite initial delays due to the pandemic, renewed efforts signal progress in realizing these healthcare partnerships.
