Chinese coffee producers, including Beigui Coffee Company and Xiaowazi Coffee Garden, are considering Bangladesh as a potential market for their coffee products and beans. Beigui Coffee Company, renowned for its popular brands in China, aims to export its high-quality coffee to Bangladesh, citing the country’s increasing coffee consumption. With coffee gardens spanning 400 hectares in Yunnan Province’s Simao District, Beigui Coffee Company is responsible for 2.8% of the district’s coffee planting area and produces over 7,200 tonnes of fresh coffee fruits annually.
Notably, international coffee brands such as Nestle and Starbucks already import coffee beans from this company for global distribution. Bangladesh currently stands as the 136th largest global coffee importer, having imported $1.53 million worth of coffee in 2021. As China’s coffee production continues to rise, with Yunnan Province being a key contributor, Chinese producers are eager to tap into Bangladesh’s market, offering competitive prices without compromising quality.
