The government has given the green light for a 100MW solar power plant, with a Chinese consortium, Cassiopea Fashion Limited, Xizi Clean Energy Equipment Manufacturing Company, and Cassiopea Apparels Limited, leading the project. The plant, on a “Build, Own and Operate” basis, will be situated in Gouripur, Mymensingh. The Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement has approved the tariff proposal, allowing the government to purchase power for 20 years at $0.10/kWh, totaling Tk3,580.80 crore over two decades. The move aligns with the government’s commitment to expanding renewable energy and encouraging private sector involvement in solar power generation. The project’s sponsor company will bear all costs, including land, transmission lines, and substations.
