Some tribal pineapple grower from Madhupur successfully initiated commercial pineapple cultivation on theirr lands. Despite initial concerns, they are delighted with the outcome as the pineapples turned out to be even more delicious and juicy than Madhupur’s variety.
A farmere sold around 1 million pineapples from his garden for 1.6 million taka, attracting attention from locals and sparking interest in pineapple cultivation. The fertile soil of the Garo Hills has proven to be highly productive, enabling successful harvests. However, Peter faced challenges from wild elephants damaging parts of his gardens, resulting in a slight decrease in profits. Despite this setback, the local community sees potential in cultivating pineapples in the hilly regions, with hopes of transforming the fortunes of the area by establishing pineapple as a cash crop.
