During a post-budget press conference, Agriculture Minister expressed optimism that commodity prices would decrease in the next fiscal year as international prices have already begun to decline. He mentioned that fuel prices have dropped in the global market, and other goods are also experiencing downward trends. The government aims to support low-income individuals, such as rickshaw and van pullers, in maintaining their living standards.
He highlighted the increase in labor wages, indicating an improvement in the quality of life and livelihoods in Bangladesh. He noted that while irrigation, seeds, and fertilizers used to contribute to higher costs for farmers, labor wages are now the main factor. The number of employed individuals in Bangladesh has grown significantly over the past 15 years, generating approximately 30 million jobs. Minister Md Tazul Islam mentioned that the unemployment rate in Bangladesh is 3.2%, indicating a favorable situation compared to many other countries. The press conference also included the participation of other ministers, officials, and representatives from various sectors to discuss the proposed budget.
