The government has mandated the implementation of the Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) System at nine bridges and two highways starting from November, according to a circular issued by the Roads and Highways Department (RHD). Automatic toll machines have been installed at these locations to facilitate the ETC system.
The nine bridges include Karnaphuli Bridge in Chattogram, Meghna Bridge in Narayanganj, Gomati Bridge in Cumilla, Bhairab Bridge in Narsingdi, Payra Bridge in Patuakhali, Khan Jahan Ali (Rupsa) Bridge in Khulna, Charsindur Bridge in Narsingdi, Shaheed Moizuddin Bridge in Narsingdi, and Lalon Shah Bridge in Pabna. Additionally, the ETC system will also be applicable at Atrai toll plaza in Natore and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Highway.
The circular states that e-toll payments can be made through various platforms such as NexusPay, Rocket, and upay apps. The facility to pay e-tolls will be gradually extended to other mobile banks and e-payment systems in the future phases. This move aims to enhance efficiency and convenience in toll collection across these important transportation routes.
