Following the recent government upheaval, there is a strong possibility that the controversial black money-whitening facility will be scrapped through an interim ordinance, as the parliament has been dissolved. Revenue officials discussed this proposal with the Finance and Commerce Adviser, who expressed support and plans to present it to the interim government’s council of advisers. The facility, which allowed undeclared money to be legalized with a 15% tax, is being reconsidered as regular taxpayers face up to 20% tax on their incomes. The Finance and Commerce Adviser emphasized the need for smooth trade clearance and effective tax collection to boost economic activity and investment. Instructions were given to the National Board of Revenue to avoid hindering cargo clearance and to prioritize resolving export-import obstacles.Â
