CTG Port Container Throughput Expected to Reach 32 Lakh TEUs

Industry: Logistics & Shipping, Shipping

Chattogram Port is poised for an increase in container and cargo handling in the current fiscal year, rebounding from negative growth experienced last year. Annual container throughput has already surpassed the previous fiscal year’s figure of 30.07 lakh TEUs, with expectations to approach 32 lakh TEUs by year-end. The port saw a notable rise in container handling, except for a few months, with May recording a record high of 3 lakh TEUs. Similarly, cargo handling is expected to exceed 12 crore tonnes for FY25, buoyed by growing confidence in foreign trade due to eased economic conditions abroad and improvements in the US dollar crisis. Stakeholders anticipate robust growth in throughput by the fiscal year’s conclusion, reflecting a recovering trade environment.
