The president of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI), emphasized the potential benefits of increased Russian investment in Bangladesh, particularly in the power and energy sectors, to support the country’s economic growth and industrialization. His remarks came during a meeting with a 14-member Russian trade delegation led by the trade commissioner of the Russian Federation’s embassy in India, held at the DCCI auditorium in Dhaka.
Ahmed encouraged Russian importers to procure more Bangladeshi products, including readymade garments, pharmaceuticals, jute goods, light engineering items, leather goods, plastics, footwear, shipbuilding products, ceramics, and IT services. He highlighted the success of existing Russian investors in Bangladesh and invited further investment in agriculture, science, technology, education, maritime, and service sectors to enhance bilateral relations. In the fiscal year 2022-23, bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Russia amounted to $965.61 million, with Bangladesh exporting $460.39 million worth of goods and importing $505.22 million.
