Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) reported a record revenue of Tk1,078 crore for the fiscal year 2023-24, marking a notable 76% increase over the past four years. The announcement came during the 29th corporation meeting where the budget session for fiscal year 2024-25 was held, with a budget of Tk5,594 crore unanimously approved. Mayor Md Atiqul Islam highlighted the corporation’s focus on capacity building as per the prime minister’s directives, emphasizing the importance of revenue generation to ensure financial independence. Notably, 53% of the upcoming fiscal year’s budget will be funded internally. DNCC achieved this revenue milestone without raising tax rates, attributing the increase to efficient online collection of holding tax and trade licenses. Previous fiscal years saw revenue collections of Tk612 crore (2019-20), Tk692 crore (2020-21), Tk794 crore (2021-22), and Tk1,058 crore (2022-23), underscoring a steady growth trajectory in revenue generation for the city corporation.
