The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) is set to introduce a digital transaction system in eight temporary cattle markets as part of the “Smart Bangladesh, Smart Haats” initiative. DNCC Mayor announced the plan, stating that all transactions in these smart haats will be conducted digitally, promoting a cashless system. Around 10,000 farmers have already opened bank accounts for this purpose, ensuring a convenient and secure payment process. In addition, the DNCC is working on establishing another temporary cattle market and a permanent cattle market to facilitate transactions during Eid. The digital transaction system will involve 10 banks, including popular mobile financial service providers, and will provide booths for sellers and buyers. Mayor also emphasized the DNCC’s commitment to efficiently removing animal waste within eight hours on Eid-ul-Azha, with the distribution of biodegradable polybags to facilitate proper waste disposal.
