The Directorate of National Consumers Right Protection (DNCRP) will commence inspections at kitchen markets nationwide, including in the capital city, to ensure the stability of spice supply and prices ahead of Eid-ul-Azha. DNCRP Director General announced this decision after a meeting with spice wholesalers and retailers in Dhaka. The upcoming week will witness intensive monitoring of spice markets across the country, followed by a report to be presented to the government based on DNCRP’s findings and data from relevant intelligence agencies.
The director emphasized addressing any issues related to spice offloading at ports. Regarding the recent increase in ginger prices, he urged individuals to inform the authorities about wholesalers selling products without invoices for appropriate action to be taken. Officials from DNCRP’s Chattogram regional office also highlighted the sale of Burmese and Indian ginger at different prices in the port city and retail markets.
