A workshop held ahead of COP28 revealed the escalating threat of drought spreading from the Barind tract to southern and central regions due to unrelenting temperature rise. Speakers at the event emphasized the impact of global warming, which has led to changes in seasonal weather patterns, shorter winters, reduced human productivity, and food safety concerns. The two-day workshop, titled ‘Journalism in the Age of Climate Action: COP28 Coverage Strategies and Mentoring,’ focused on building media capacity for COP28 coverage. While experts discussed the need for additional green industries to combat climate change, concerns were raised about securing necessary funds. The effects of climate change in Bangladesh, the seventh most-affected country worldwide, were underscored, emphasizing the urgency of taking effective measures to address these challenges.
