Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has recently increased electricity bills and demand charges for self-controlled rental or leased establishments. The new charges came into effect in March of 2023. The electricity price per unit has been raised to 17.66 taka from the previous 15.36 taka, and the meter’s demand charge has been increased from Tk 30 to Tk 75 per month. The decision on the new electricity tariff was made by the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission, and DSCC has implemented the new charges accordingly. Businesses operating within the city should be aware of these changes to plan their energy expenses accordingly.
