Hafiz Md Hasan Babu, Chairman of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), resigned from the board on Monday, citing personal reasons. His resignation follows a change in the political regime, which led to the DSE Brokers Association calling for his removal. Babu initially sent his resignation via email to the chairman of the securities regulator on Sunday night, with copies to the DSE’s company secretary and acting managing director. A hard copy was submitted the following day. Babu was appointed as an independent director in February 2023 and later became chairman of the DSE, with a term set for four years.
