The number of users of the Dhaka Stock Exchange’s (DSE) mobile app, including its desktop version named DSE-Investor, has significantly decreased over the past four financial years, largely due to an extended bearish trend in the market. In the fiscal year 2023-24, the registered users of DSE-Mobile and DSE-Investor totaled 32,900, marking a 29% decrease compared to the previous fiscal year, which had 46,622 users. This decline continues a trend from FY22, when the app had 77,949 users, reflecting a substantial 40% drop.
Despite an increase in app usage for transactions in FY21, accounting for 16.65% of total market transactions, subsequent years saw declines. In FY22, app transactions represented 6.89% of total transactions, rising to 11.49% in FY23, and reaching 14.12% in FY24. However, overall turnover in FY24 decreased by 3.62% year-on-year to Tk 21,155 crore, indicative of broader market challenges.
